Description
This three hour class will walk students through the three day process of making curved-checkerboard cutting boards. Making this board will use a variety of tools in the woodshop and introduce a fairly niche technique to make curved joints on the cutting board using the bandsaw.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this course students should be able to:

Cut rough lumber to size on the miter saw

Use the Jointer and Planer in a manner as to maximize remaining thickness of the piece, while ensuring flatness

Cut doubled up boards on the bandsaw to create curved wood joints

Trim boards on the table saw, using both rip-cuts and cross-cuts

Glue and clamp boards together

Round-over edges on the router table

Sand using the powermatic sander

Sand by hand and with orbital sanders, and how to correct for any gaps in glue joints

Understand the challenges of finishing cutting boards, and the continued care needed to keep them flat and unstained.
