Please note that to get the most out of this class you must be certified on our CNCs and have some experience on the CNCs.

Introduction to Fusion 360 (and application for Laguna CNC Machines)

This class is an introduction tutorial for using one of the most widely used and (mostly) free to use software for parametric modelling, Fusion 360. While there is an introduction to design in this course the focus will be on developing toolpaths and using the appropriate post processor for the Laguna CNC machines.

Agenda:

1) Software introduction and setting up your workspace.

a. Project timeline, models, components, bodies, faces, sketches and more

2) Design Space: Basics of Building a Model

a. Planes, sketches and basic shape manipulation

b. Importing a model

3) Manufacturing Space: Generating toolpaths

a. Tools and tool library, 2d & 3d toolpaths, Stock definition,

b. Simulation and Post processing.

4) Laguna Setup and Execution

a. CNC specifics, Workflow and common errors

5) Online resources

Requirements:

This is an entry level tutorial. No prior experience with F360 or other modelling software is required. Students are required to sign up for, download and in3.0stall the latest version of F360 from Autodesk.

Note: This class is not a replacement for the hands-on CNC class required to be authorized to use the CNC machine at ASMBLY.
