Description
This class covers the basic skills to safely cut and shape metal using hand tools, drills, grinders, saws, and finishing tools. At the end of this two hour class attendees will be able to safely and effectively work with metal preparing them to enroll in welding, machining and milling courses. The key element of this class, beyond safety, is to select the correct tool for the job at hand.
Class Objectives

Demonstrate safe and effective skills in all basic areas of the metal shop.

Identifying the appropriate tools and equipment to perform the required operation

Correct selection of tool speed and lubricants/cooling fluids

Properly securing materials

Demonstrate the ability to set up, use, teardown, and cleanup tools and equipment
Attendees should bring eye protection and hearing protection to class, wear long trousers and wear closed toe shoes.
