Summary

This is an introductory class on the basics of working safely and accurately with metal at Asmbly that will provide foundational skills in the metal arts for follow-on Metal Shop classes. As such, this is a required class for all other classes in the Metal Shop.  This class is also appropriate for anyone who might want to incorporate metal into projects from other areas at Asmbly.

Description

This class covers the basic skills to safely cut and shape metal using hand tools, drills, grinders, saws, and finishing tools.  At the end of this two hour class attendees will be able to safely and effectively work with metal preparing them to enroll in welding, machining and milling courses. The key element of this class, beyond safety, is to select the correct tool for the job at hand.

Class Objectives

Attendees should bring eye protection and hearing protection to class, wear long trousers and wear closed toe shoes.
