Beginner Wheel Throwing w/ Nick

Course Description 

Try your hand at wheel throwing! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to center clay, pull walls, and shape your piece on the wheel. Get plenty of hands-on guidance and support as you explore the basics of throwing. At the end of class, choose your favorite piece to keep! Your instructor will trim and bisque-fire it for you, and you can return to glaze it yourself during one of our Glazing Workshops, or opt to have it glazed for you for a small additional fee.

Learning Objectives 

After completing this course, students should be able to:

• Identify the basic components and function of a pottery wheel.

• Understand the fundamental properties of clay and how moisture affects its workability.

• Practice centering clay on the wheel.

• Pull walls and shape clay into simple forms at a beginner 

• Follow proper studio safety and etiquette.
